Automotive User Interfaces and Interactive Vehicular Applications. The challenge that arises from the proliferation of in-car devices is that they may distract drivers from the primary task of driving, with possibly disastrous results. Thus, one of the major goals of this conference is to explore ways in which in-car user interfaces can be designed so as to lessen driver distraction .

And I visited Germany in the summer of 2017 to meet with the students participating in our NSF IRES project. On this trip we worked with our German colleagues, Susanne Boll. On writing a report about this exciting opportunity for students to gain international experiences. The result is an article in IEEE Pervasive Computing.

Cognitive Load and In-Vehicle Human-Machine Interaction Workshop. We are excited to announce that CLW 2015 will be held at AutomotiveUI 2015 in Nottingham, UK. The half-day workshop will take place in the morning of September 1. Explain the theoretical underpinnings of the physiology behind common physiological measures of cognitive load. Demonstrate how measures of physiological workload are collected.
